A beginner’s guide to bond pricing and yields in the current market
One of the things we are seeing in investment markets is that bond yields rise. The rise in bond yields, particularly US treasuries, is causing nervousness in the bond and equity markets too and certain assets have been underperforming, specifically technology stocks.
What is a bond? A bond is effectively a loan; it could be loaned to a company, it could be loaned to a government. A corporate bond is a loan to a corporate entity - it could be a grocery store or a retailer of any other kind. A lot of companies issue bonds.
